David E. Jackson
David E. Jackson is a consulting geologist with over 35 years of experience. He’s been a Principal at BDY Natural Sciences Consultants for over 20 years and the majority owner since 2007. Mr. Jackson holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in geology from the University of Tennessee where his graduate research on kimberlite was directed by the late Larry Taylor. His prior positions include working as a field geologist for Union Carbide Corporation’s National Uranium Resource Evaluation program based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and as a Senior Geologist with Exxon Company, U.S.A. in South Texas. Since 1988, Mr. Jackson has been devoted to environmental consulting, working on or directing projects ranging from environmental due diligence, Clean Water Act permitting, and groundwater investigation and remediation at industrial facilities, Department of Defense sites, and urban brownfield locations.
Mr. Jackson’s technical interests include characterizing the geological context of stream hydrology, perched water, and groundwater, as well as contaminant hydrogeology. His practice has been applied to litigation, regulatory permitting and enforcement, rulemaking, and drafting legislation. He is registered as a Professional Geologist in multiple states via national and state board examinations and is certified as a Professional Hydrologist by the American Institute of Hydrology. Mr. Jackson is experienced as a consulting and testifying expert in numerous federal, state, and administrative judicial proceedings.
When not with his family, hunting with friends, reading John McPhee or being a geologic tourist, Mr. Jackson tends a farm on the Duck River in Maury County, Tennessee.
