EEPS Scholarships
Our department offers a variety of scholarships and funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Learn more and apply through our EEPS SharePoint site.
1. Alumni Board Scholarships
Purpose: Support for current EEPS students, either for financial need or general academic/research support.
Types:
- Financial Need / Hardship Scholarships โ One-time awards ($500โ$1,000) for students facing current or anticipated financial challenges. No GPA requirement. Apply by email.
- General Scholarships โ One-time awards ($500โ$1,000) to support books, research, academic travel, or other educational activities. GPA, financial need, and academic standing may be considered.
2. Field Geology Scholarships
Purpose: Support students attending the summer Field Geology programs.
Available Awards:
- Don Byerly Field Geology Scholarship โ Honors Professor Byerlyโs legacy in field geology education.
- William O. Ross Field Geology Scholarship โ Provides funds for undergraduates to attend field geology courses.
- Knoxville Gem and Mineral Society (KGMS) Scholarships โ Two scholarships awarded each year to deserving undergraduates.
3. Student Success Fund (SSF)
Purpose: Funding for student research, educational activities, and conference travel.
Opportunities:
- Conference Travel โ Funds to present research at regional, national, or international conferences.
- Workshop Travel โ Funds for workshops, training, or short courses.
- Undergraduate Research Grants & Otto Kopp Awards โ Support for exceptional undergraduate research projects, including research stipends and project-specific expenses.
- Other Requests โ Considered on a case-by-case basis for student research or educational activities.
